2012-02-22- 2012 Semester 1 Programme - Our programme for the first half of 2012 has been uploaded. It's available for on-line viewing or download as a PDF. We apologise for the delay in making the on-line programme available, which was due to technical issues in updating the site.
2012-01-09 - Positions Vacant Page - From time to time Nicholson Street has opportunities available for paid or volunteer employment. These could be anything from administration staff or sessional tutors through group leaders and occasional brochure folding. Vacancies will be announced on our Facebook page, with more complete information uploaded to our website.
2011-12-14 - Children's Programmes Close - Today was the last day for Nicholson Street Community House's Occasional Childcare Service. As a result of the withdrawal of government funding for the Take a Break childcare programme, NSCH is no longer able to offer our Occasional Childcare service or 3 Year Old Activity Group.
Regrettably, the closure of our childcare service has also meant we have had to let go three staff members, two of whom have been with us since 1999. We wish them every success and happiness for the future, and keep our fingers crossed that they will be able to find employment at another service.
Childcare has been a part of Nicholson Street since we opened in 1988. Unfortunately the heavy costs we would have incurred if we'd kept the service running without government support was significantly more than we could manage.
For local families, we are offering a playgroup on Wednesday mornings from March. Nearby Neighbourhood Houses will still offer occasional childcare in 2012. Our advice is to book early.
2011-12-06 - Jumping on the Facebook bandwagon - Nicholson Street has established a page on Facebook to help bring more frequent and timely alerts on changes to our programme, along with more general information, in a format that is both more conducive to rapid updates than our website and easier for you to follow in real time.
Feedback - We're looking for your feedback: Are there any classes/workshops or events you'd like to see Nicholson Street Community House present? Please e-mail us with your suggestions!
Please include your name, address and a contact number in your e-mail in case we need to contact you about your suggestion, and don't forget to let us know if you'd like to be put on our mailing list.
